The logical choice when facing unreasonable opposition
What Is Divorce Litigation?
Litigation, or the court-based system, is one of the process choices available to couples facing a divorce or other family law controversy. A litigated divorce is the logical choice when the opposing party is unreasonable or in denial, where there are mental health issues, where there are unique questions of law, or where negotiation or other dispute resolution processes have failed.

Effective, Highly Skilled Litigators
Tucker Family Law litigators appear frequently in the courts of the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia and are respected by both judges and other attorneys. Efficient and skilled, we have a consistent record of achieving favorable outcomes for clients in a cost-effective way.
If you choose or end up in the litigation process, our family law and divorce litigators are skillful at providing support at every step of this difficult time. For example, if you are deposed or must testify at trial, we will thoroughly explain the process to you and prepare you to testify, so you will be able to present yourself and your case in the best possible light.
Finding Opportunities to Settle Outside of Court
At the same time that we prepare a case for trial, if appropriate for your case, we will continually seek out a window of opportunity to pursue settlement outside of court. One advantage to settling out of court is that certain goals can be accomplished in settlement that a judge does not have the power to order at the end of contested litigation. Settling out of court is also less costly.
For more than 50 years, our family law litigators have been respected by their peers and recognized in the community for their vigorous representation and advocacy in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia courts.
